Libertas' short available on MUBI!

All of the short films from the official Libertas Film Festival's competition program can be seen on MUBI (The Auteurs) - something to enjoy, if you can't make it to Dubrovnik this year...

Every single year, short film as a form is becoming more and more progressive and vital. In recent years, this wave has finally hit Croatia as well. Last year, Croatian shorts have successfully toured almost all internationally relevant film festivals, both in narrative and animation sections. This year at Libertas we have decided to focus on this new generation of filmmakers. Some of them have already been to major film festivals, while others have perhaps stayed slightly unnoticed. This year, Ivan Livaković is back with his new short ‘The Fucking Game’, Dario Juričan presents his ‘In My Head an Angel’ and we our proud to showcase two brilliant animated films ‘My Way’ by Veljko Popović and Svjetlan Junaković and Zdenko Bašić’s ‘Guliver’.   

Also, we have the opportunity to see ‘The Terms’ and ‘Schizofredric’, two films from United Kingdom – a country known for its outstanding short film output, as well as other films that essentially show how rich and diverse is the world of short filmmaking.  

This year we are especially proud to have started a relationship with a globally relevant and already quite famous website MUBI (The Auteurs), which is dedicated to festival, classic, arthouse and indie cinema. Thanks to MUBI we are literally opening up to global audience, together with a list of prestigious film festivals that have also decided to take advantage of this unique platform. Finally, it’s amazing to see filmmakers that have only a few years ago screened their shorts at Libertas, to come back with their feature debuts. This year Babak Jalali will present his feature ‘Frontier Blues’ in The Offical Program. 

Having in mind all the talent here in The Short Program, there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing more and more directors coming back with their feature film debuts.
