]]> <![CDATA[5. Libertas Film Festival]]> We officially have the date of the fifth Libertas Film Festival: from June 26th to July 1st 2009. We would like to invite directors, producers, actors and film fans to join us next year.

]]> <![CDATA[WINNERS 2008.]]> Besides the previously mentioned short feature Farewell, we are happy to announce the other winners. This year's best feature is a German film Edge oh heaven, by a young German director Fatih Akin. Best documentary feature is Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired by Marina Zenovich, who will receive the Dubravka award in person. The special Libertas audience award goes to a German feature the Wave by Dennis Gansel.

]]> <![CDATA[Lifetime achievement award goes to Mustafa Nadarević]]> This year's Libertas FF special lifetime achievement award will be handed to Mustafa Nadarević, a well know ex-Yugoslavian actor. He had many recognized achievements in theatre as well as in film and TV. Nadarević is best known for his work in the 1985 film When Father Was Away on Business and he also stared in an Oscar winning film No man's lad (2001).

]]> <![CDATA[Regional premiere of "Roman Polanski: Wanted & Desired"]]> Following its European premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, the highly praised documentary 'Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired' by the U.S. director Marina Zenovich is going to have its regional premiere at the fourth LIBERTAS Film Festival.

"I have been dreaming of returning to Dubrovnik for a few years now and I am looking forward to coming to the LIBERTAS Film Festival!" said recently Marina Zenovich. The documentary in question is going to have its regional premiere at the upcoming LIBERTAS Film Festival. The Croatian audience will be able to see this memorable and exceedingly interesting documentary about the infamous affair of the legendary film director Roman Polanski, hailed by the Entertainment Weekly as the "documentary of rare fascination and power". The film premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, winning the Best Documentary Editing Award.

]]> <![CDATA[Day Three 2007]]> In the early afternoon, a large group of festival guests, including: Ms. Almagor, Ambassador Meirom and his wife, the Contessa de Lambrey, the jury and other special guests all boarded a yacht at the city dock and set to sea for the neighboring island of Lokrum. 

]]> <![CDATA[Day Two 2007]]> A very special evening was enjoyed by festival-goers as Libertas honored Ms. Gila Almagor, the First Lady of Israeli cinema, with the Master Award for a lifetime of film excellence.  Ms. Almagor has starred in nearly 50 films, wrote for books, and is widely revered as one of Israeli cinema's greatest treasures.

]]> <![CDATA[Day One 2007]]> The first full day of the Festival began at eleven o'clock with a press conference at festival sponsor The Bellevue Hotel.  A large assortment of media were on hand to interview Carl Markovich and the Festival Jury.

]]> <![CDATA[The Opening Night 2007]]> Accompanied by Subrenum, one of the top men's acapella groups in Croatia, in an ancient outdoor theater, and under a full canopy of stars – the 3rd Annual Libertas Film Festival was officially opened by festival director Mia Pecina.
